The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Foundation Year in Brisbane has been designed to introduce students to university life. This pre-university program allows a student to fast-track into a Diploma or Degree program after completing Year 11 and enables students to obtain the academic requirements necessary for gaining enry into their chosen course of tertiary study.
Students can choose to study from a range of faculty options which must be selected before commencing the program. The faculties include Built Environment, Business, Creative Industries, Education, Engineering, Humanities & Human Services, Health, Information Technology, Law, and Science. Selecting one of these faculties means the Foundation program can be tailored to prepare the student for study in that particular area.
The program itself can be studied over two semesters, commencing in February, June and October, or for more advanced students it can be fast-tracked on one semester, also beginning in February, June and October. Students who complete the program at an acceptable level can proceed directly to a QUT undergraduate program, or they can choose to use their results to gain entry to most of the tertiary institutions in Australia.
