The University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney has developed a comprehensive pre-university Foundation Year program to prepare students for tertiary study in Australia. The program is delivered in a caring and encouraging way that makes the transition to undergraduate studies a much simpler process than it would otherwise be.
UNSW offers a variety of completion methods to suit most English abilities and timetables. For example, if the student is an English speaker with a strong academic background then they can begin in April or June for an eight month course. Alternatively, if the student is an English speaker but requires academic assistance then they can complete a twelve month course beginning in January or June. On the other hand, if the student needs assistance with their English then they can complete a twelve month program commencing in January or June and beginning with an intensive eight week study period focusing on English language and academic skills.
Students are able to select from a range of undergraduate programs they might like to pursue and then choose the appropriate stream from the Foundation Studies options. These are chosen from the five major streams of Physical Science, Life Science, Commerce, Design & Media and Arts & Social Science, This wide range of study options means that students can prepare for tertiary studies in their chosen field.
